Reservations can be made at the Doubletree Hotel Dearborn by calling the Doubletree Dearborn reservations department at 1-800-222-TREE or contact the Hotel directly at 1-313-336-3340.  Please mention that you are making reservations with the 40th Engineers Reunion to obtain the $89 room rate.  All reservations must be made before August 15, 2008 to obtain the reduced rate.  This is a very busy weekend at The Henry Ford and reservations should be made as quickly as possible to ensure availability.  The hotel is located at 5801 Southfield Freeway, Detroit Michigan, located 15 miles from Detroit Metro Airport, nine miles from downtown Detroit and 2 ½ miles from the Henry Ford.  The hotel does not offer a shuttle service from the airport; however, a taxi will cost approximately $25 to $30.  Information about the hotel can be obtained at www.doubletree1.hilton.com.

 Our tentative itinerary includes registration and visiting in the Hospitality Suite on Thursday, September 4 and Friday, September 5.   We plan on hosting an informal dinner at the hotel on Thursday evening and having a speaker afterwards.  This year is Ford Motor Company’s 100th Anniversary and we thought it would be interesting to have someone speak about their contribution during WWII.  Afterwards, there are three casinos in downtown Detroit, located directly off major freeways, Motor City Casino, Greektown Casino and MGM.  While the casinos are not an organized 40th outing, it would be fun entertainment after the 40th functions.

 Friday will feature The Henry Ford, with a rich and diverse offering of exhibits, demonstrations, programs and reenactments.  The following venues are available at The Henry Ford:

Greenfield Village- An outdoor museum spread over 90 acres – Admission is $19 for Seniors and $20 for Adults.

Henry Ford Museum – Admission is $13 for Seniors and $14 for Adults

Ford Rouge Tour – Admission is $13 for Seniors and $14 for Adults – limited capacity – please obtain tickets beforehand by calling 1-800-835-5237 or online.

IMAX Theatre - $9.75 for Seniors and $10.75 for Adults

There are two restaurants available for lunch at Greenfield Village as well as fast-food stands, and one cafeteria-style restaurant available at the Museum.

Since The Henry Ford is 2 ½ miles from the hotel, we will not be transporting the 40th as a group.  The Swanson family will be available to shuttle groups to The Henry Ford is you do not have transportation.

Friday evening will be dinner on your own with a listing of local restaurants and locations available in the Hospitality Suite.

Saturday morning is the Business Meeting, lunch on your own, raffle in the afternoon and banquet in the evening.  The price of registration has not yet been determined but will be in line with the past few years.
